During the winter months make sure you have plenty of good quality hay on hand for your horses, it not only provides nutrition for your horse, it also provides warmth on those cold nights. 

Hay which consists of  fiber in the gut is what fuels the horses' furnace (so to speak) to create warmth from inside. Make sure they have plenty of hay to keep their furnace burning through the night.
